Obituary of Lucille Petronella Kelly

Lucille Kelly was born in Port of Spain on July 31, 1926.  She relocated to Palo Seco at the age of 14, where she remained for 27 years and raised her eight children. In 1967, Lucille moved herself and her children to Pleasantville, San Fernando.

In 1973, she migrated to the United States to ensure her children had a better life and more opportunities. Education was extremely important to her. From an early age she never wanted to miss a day of school and made sure all her children were educated. Upon her return to Trinidad she helped raise her grandchildren.

She leaves behind her legacy to her eight children, Norma, Annette, June, Angus, Kathleen, Debra and the late Claudia & Glen, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, son-in-laws, Allen and Patrick, nieces and nephews, Henny, Amy, Maureen, and the Boneys, too many to mention.

Lucille was known for being hardworking, strong willed, opinionated, and nurturing.  She opened her heart to anyone who needed her.  She loved putting a smile on people's faces, laughing, cracking jokes, singing, dancing and cooking.

Although she didn't have the best way of showing it, she was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her loved ones.  Lucille loved and cared deeply about her family. Everything she said and did was because she wanted what was best for them.

Today, we are not mourning Lucille's death, we are celebrating Lucille's 93 years of life.  During those 93 years, she accomplished so much and touched the lives of many people.  Her life is a testament of someone who lived life, fought hard for others and lived life on her terms. She will be gravely missed and although she's no longer with us physically, she lives on in our memories and in our hearts.
